Part of my LJ name is a nickname I once answered to. If anyone called me "Sunny" or "Sunnyskywalker" or "Sunnysky," I'd answer to it.
I've got a super-common first name, but an unusual last name, so I don't use it online - not because I'm ashamed of my words or anything like that, but because a) when I'm talking to (potentially) millions of people, a few of them might be stalkers, and why make it easier for them? and b) I work for a school. Parents might google employee names, and while I don't think I've done anything wrong, I'm also not saying it as an employee of the school and who knows what parents will take issue with. I don't want the school to suffer because someone out there hates Chewbacca.
Besides, there's also reason c) this blog mostly is about my fannish thoughts, and what better way to signal that than with a name? It's part of me. It's fun to choose a name - not that I don't like mine, but it's not like I had a choice in the matter.
