I also remember he gave an interview a while back (but after books had been published) where he said that he figured Han and Leia got married, moved somewhere with a white picket fence, and Han is the backyard grillmaster. So while I think he does want to make sure those summaries stay within certain parameters, he also doesn't really care what they're about (unless he sees a nifty character design that would be just perfect for his next movie...)
