I read a novel a while back which involved a 7th-century pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, which is a bit earlier, but good to know it could have been accurate. Hm, perhaps our Sal's dad was still operating primarily in Spain and met his future wife when she arrived on pilgrimage. That could be interesting. Any ideas on a background for her?
And good to know Hypothetical Salazar could indeed have operated fairly freely in the region whether Christian or Muslim. I know there were ups and downs over the centuries.
