I don't have much to add, because your work was impressive, to be honest. I never made a conection that "Salazar" could mean "Old Hall". It makes sense though: "Sala" + "Zahar".
I had some trouble with the Basque folklore you explained, because I was told slightly different versions of the myths, but I suppose it always happens wiht old folklore. Everyone has their own version and claim it's the real one.
